The Spaniard of Kurdish heritage finished second after an impressive battle during the 30-minute morning race counting towards the DMV GTC. Tutumlu, who posted again the fastest lap in the Car Collection Motorsport-run Audi R8 LMS Evo in Kurdistan Racing Team, completed an outstanding season.
Isaac Tutumlu added another podium to his tally in the DMV GTC as the Spaniard of Kurdish ancestry finished second at Hockenheim driving the Car Collection Motorsport-entered Audi R8 LMS Evo carrying the colors of Kurdistan Racing Team. After finishing third on Friday, Tutumlu showed another strong display of talent despite the high-profile field consisting of well-known drivers such as Markus Winkelhock, Uwe Alzen, Simon Reicher, Kenneth Heyer or Alec Udell.
In the morning, Tutumlu started from the pole position and, after dropping to third, he overtook Heyer to move up to second and took the lead after passing Reicher. Tutumlu pulled away but when Udell moved into his slipstream when the Spaniard was lapping the backmakers. Udell moved past Tutumlu to take the lead but the latter fought back in the remaining laps. Tutumlu posted the fastest lap of the race and finally crossed the finish line in second place right behind Udell. In race 2, Tutumlu started from fourth on the grid but moved into the lead when the lights went out. He was leading the pack until Heyer passed him. Later, he went off track and dropped a couple of places but the driver of Kurdistan Racing Team still secured another top-5 finish.
“I am very pleased with our weekend here at Hockenheim. In race 1, we started on slick tires but you had to driver very carefully to avoid any mistake. In fact, Heyer spun off in front of mine. I took the lead but Udell took advantage of lapped cars to catch me. He passed me but I still tried to retake the lead” explained Tutumlu. The Barcelona native added that “I made a great start in race 2 to move into the lead. Unfortunately I couldn’t bring home a third podium finish but I am still amazed with such strong results.”
